Rain, Rain

Yesterday was a rainy day here, and I was inspired by the following project over at flipflops and applesauce. Her's turned out much cuter than ours, but we had fun, and that's what counts, right?

First I cut out some umbrellas from decorative paper while the kids were napping. Then I had the kids glue the umbrellas to a piece of construction paper and use a marker to draw the handle of the umbrella. We then used toothbrushes to splatter the paint onto the paper, mimicking raindrops. Thin the paint out a little to help with the splattering. Our splattering experience was a bit of a flop. I think it takes more coordination than my kiddos have to splatter it very well. The girls over at flipflops and applesauce are a bit older than my two. Plus, I watered down the paint a little TOO much. Oh, well! Here's our final project:
