Mary Poppins

Who doesn't love Mary Poppins? I know I was intrigued by the movie as a child, and I wanted to pass on the wonder and merriment of Mary Poppins to my little ones. We picked the dvd up at our local library, and I popped it in for the kids. Little Bean will pretty much watch anything (hence the reason we must limit TV time to one show a day), but Miss O isn't usually interested in any kind of movie. Both of them were glued to Marry Poppins however, and I have to say, I'm delighted! Mary Poppins is such a classic, wholesome musical, and I am so glad I can pass on this movie to Little Bean and Miss O.

What movies did you love as a kid?

Mary Poppins was our family movie night movie last weekend and my kids were also enthralled. We have been singing the music all week. My favorite movie as a kid was The Sound of Music. I remember waiting for it to come on tv every year. The good old days...when you had to wait for something to come on tv. I think of that when we watch the Charlie Brown holiday specials too. I think they were more special when you had to wait for them to come on tv, but I do love the convenience of dvds and dvr, etc. Sorry about the length of this comment!

I loved it as a kid and so when I saw it on sale I had to get it. My LO LOVES it as well. She likes all of the singing and dancing in it. When parts come up that don't have Mary Poppins in it she wants me to fast forward to a part that does.

There are so many great movies I remember from childhood - Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang come to mind immediately, and then from when we were a little older we loved Cool Runnings, Princess Bride, Hook and Homeward Bound among others... I'm trying to make sure Kent gets a chance to see all the "oldie but goodies" as we go along too... its wonderful to share those things we loved with our own children! :)
