No, this isn't a shameless plug asking you to become my follower (though I would be delighted if you did so!). I'm posting about this because lately I have found so many great blogs who use blogger, but who don't have the follower widget on their page. I am always giddy when I can become a follower of a new blog that I am enjoying because it means I can keep up with each new post without having to visit the blog each day and find out if anything new is written (any new posts people make show up on my dashboard).
So if you have a blog hosted by blogger, why not use the follower widget? You can be sure that I for one will be following you! ;)

I agree. I hate it when I find a blog that I like but can't follow. I'll never remember to go back.
You can still follow blogs that do not have the 'follow widget', and also follow blogs that are not even on blogger. I just figured this out recently :) simply go to your dashboard to your Reading List section and click ADD and type in the website address there of the blog you'd like to keep up to date with.
I sometimes wonder if those whose blogs I follow think I'm stalking them. Lol. I have followed your blog for a while and I LOVE the follow feature.

You can also go to the top of the screen to the blue blogger bar and click where is says "Follow Blog" :-)
Me again - I don't know why I go back and forth on having this widget. . . I read a blog once that didn't have it - it was an award free - tag free blog and it was not about the numbers or recognition - and that appealed to me. . . any thoughts on that?

As to the reward free/tag free/follower free blog, I have no problem with that, but for me, the rewards are FUN. :) I like receiving them because it means that I am not just using this blog for myself, but others are benefiting from it, which motivates me to keep writing. And, I think the tags and rewards promote community with other bloggers, so I actually enjoy that part. I have considered taking down my awards from my side bar because I sometimes think they just look tacky, but I haven't decided yet. The follower-free thing kind of bugs me, espescially if they don't have a feed counter at all. I like to know who is reading so I can find others with interests like me, but then again, I guess that could be accomplished some what through a blog roll. I don't really have strong opinions either way. :)
I know what you mean! That's why I use GOOGLE READER. If you are visting a blog and they don't have a follow widget you can still follow using Google Reader! Just click on the orange simple in the adress bar and subscribe to the RSS feed. Then use Google Reader to read everything you follow and/or subscribe to. What's nice about Google Reader is that the blogs you follow using the follow widget will also be there.
To get those blogs, the blogs you follow using the follower widget, in your Google Reader just click on the words "view in Google Reader" from your Dashboard. You will see those words on the right hand side just under all of blog you follow list on your dashboard.
